Suzieand Mike, loyal clients of ours, came to us with a door in desperate need of revival. The polyurethane was bubbling, and the color was uneven and splotchy. To ensure an immaculate finish, we sanded the entire door by hand, achieving a perfectly smooth surface. We then applied two coats of rich mahogany stain and topped it off with four coats of clear polyurethane for a durable, glossy finish. This project exemplifies how we go the extra mile without cutting corners. Now, their door not only looks stunning but is also protected against future weathering, showcasing the importance of regular home maintenance in avoiding unexpected, costly repairs.
Regular upkeep, like caulking around windows, painting any exterior wood to prevent water penetration, and inspecting roof pipe collar vents ensures your home remains in top shape. Anytime you notice water damage, it’s crucial to address it promptly to avoid costly repairs down the road.
How did we make thier dream come true?
Initially, I assessed the door and realized restoring its beauty required sanding it down by hand, using two different grits of sandpaper—no machines. We removed the doorknobs to ensure complete coverage and taped off the inside of the home, setting up a dust shield to prevent fumes and dust from spreading. We also laid down rosin paper on the floor for added protection, ensuring the household remained safe and fume-free.
To complete the project, we added stylish handles that enhanced the door's appeal. The clients were thrilled with the transformation and attention to detail throughout the process. Our meticulous craftsmanship left them so impressed that Bull Island Handyman became their go-to for any future projects. Best of all, they didn’t have to fork out thousands of dollars on a brand-new oak door.
